After experiencing months of extreme price volatility, Bitcoin in the last week has surged to a 9 month high, with the top crypto asset surpassing $27,000 and on its way to get over $30,000 per coin.
This rally was triggered by the US Federal Reserve's decision to create an emergency lending facility equipped with $152.9 billion to backstop banks in the country. Through this discount window, the central bank will accept underwater securities from embattled banks at market value.
This is in addition to the $142.8 billion entrusted to the bridge banks for Silicon Valley and Signature Bank.
Altogether, the Fed's balance sheet has grown by $298 billion, essentially reversing the quantitative tightening efforts of the past 11 months. As expected, the Fed's bailout triggered an impressive rally in the cryptocurrency markets, with Bitcoin gaining over 33 percent in the past week.
Ethereum, the second-largest crypto by market cap, has also gained over 22 percent in the past week with the largest altcoin now exchanging hands around $1800 per Ether.
In a recent interview with Real Vision Crypto, popular American investor and hedge fund manager Mark Yusco discussed the widespread banking crisis, the Fed's bailout plans, and how it would impact Bitcoin and the overall cryptocurrency markets.
Yusko expects Bitcoin and crypto to begin to outperform within the coming months, as it has always done during previous bailouts and periods of economic expansion.
